Migration

ActiveCampaign is
email. You need more.

ActiveCampaign is one of the best email automation platforms ever built — for email. But the moment you need SMS, a real CRM pipeline, call tracking, AI conversation, a scheduling system, or a landing page builder, you're adding tools. GoHighLevel does everything ActiveCampaign does for email, plus the full communication and pipeline stack — in one platform.

Why Businesses Outgrow ActiveCampaign
Limitations on ActiveCampaign
SMS requires an add-on — and it's limited compared to dedicated SMS tools
CRM is bolted on, not native — deal management feels like a workaround
No built-in call tracking, AI voice, or voice drop capabilities
No scheduling or calendar system — requires Calendly, Acuity, or similar
Contact tier pricing scales cost as your list grows, independent of features used
No landing page or funnel builder at the base tier
What GHL adds
Native SMS, MMS, and ringless voicemail — included, not add-on
Real CRM with pipeline stages, opportunity management, and deal tracking
AI Voice agent and Conversation AI for inbound call and SMS handling
Built-in calendar and appointment scheduling system
Unlimited contacts on all plans — flat pricing regardless of list size
Full landing page and funnel builder with form-to-CRM routing
What Migrates

ActiveCampaign's data model
maps well to GHL.

Migrates cleanly
Contact List & Custom Fields
All contacts with tags and custom field values mapped to GHL equivalents
List & Tag Structure
AC lists and tags recreated as GHL tags and smart segments
Email Templates
Email designs exported and rebuilt in GHL's email builder
Automation Logic
Trigger conditions and action sequences mapped to GHL workflow builder
Deal Pipelines (CRM)
AC deal stages preserved as GHL pipeline stages with custom fields
Forms
Forms rebuilt in GHL with equivalent fields and CRM routing
Rebuilt / redesigned
Automation Enrollment State
Active automation enrollments restart in GHL — prior history is noted but not transferred
Predictive Sending / Send Time Optimisation
GHL uses fixed send times — AC's predictive sending feature doesn't have a direct equivalent
Attribution Reporting
AC's attribution model is different from GHL's reporting — custom dashboards configured during migration
AC-Specific Integrations
Reviewed during audit — most have GHL native or webhook equivalents
All gaps identified and addressed during the design phase — no surprises.
How We Do It

The migration process,
step by step.

01
Migration audit
Free — before any commitment
Muhammad reviews your current platform setup: what data exists, how it's structured, what automations are live, and what integrations are in use. You get a clear picture of what migrates cleanly, what needs rebuilding, and what can be improved in the process.
02
Data mapping and architecture design
Before anything moves
Every data field, contact property, pipeline stage, and automation trigger is mapped from the source platform to the GHL equivalent. This is the most important step — a migration without a map is just a chaotic data transfer.
03
GHL environment built in parallel
Your new system is ready before you switch
The full GHL environment is configured, tested, and verified before a single contact is moved. CRM architecture, pipelines, workflows, automations, and integrations are built and stress-tested against real-world scenarios.
04
Data migration — staged and verified
Contacts, pipelines, history
Contact records migrated with full field mapping. Pipeline opportunities preserved with stage history. Automation history noted where relevant. Each batch verified before the next proceeds.
05
Parallel running period
Old system stays live until you're confident
During the transition, both systems run simultaneously. New leads go into GHL. Old contacts are accessible in the source platform for reference. Nothing gets deleted until you've confirmed everything is working.
06
Full cutover and handoff
You're live. Documented. Independent.
Final cutover — old platform decommissioned or downgraded. Full documentation package delivered: system architecture, workflow logic, field reference guide. 30-day post-migration support included.
FAQ

ActiveCampaign migration
questions.

We have hundreds of automations — how are they handled?

We audit every automation during the migration design phase. Simple sequences (email 1 → wait → email 2) migrate quickly. Complex conditional automations are mapped individually and rebuilt with equivalent GHL workflow logic. We prioritise by what's actively generating revenue.

Our list is large — 50k+ contacts. How does migration work at scale?

Large list migrations are done in batches with verification at each stage. GHL has no contact tier pricing, so once you're on the platform your list cost is fixed regardless of size. Migration is staged to ensure data integrity before the full transition.

We use ActiveCampaign's CRM for our sales team — will they lose their deal history?

Deal records and pipeline stage history are exported and recreated in GHL's opportunity pipeline. Custom deal fields are mapped during the architecture design phase. Your sales team gets a cleaner, more integrated CRM with phone, SMS, and automation all in one place.

Can GHL do everything AC does for email marketing?

GHL handles email sequences, broadcasts, tagging, conditional sends, and automation — all the core email marketing features. Where AC has slight nuances (predictive sending, some reporting features), we discuss equivalents and workarounds during the audit.

What email sending infrastructure does GHL use?

GHL uses Mailgun under the hood for email sending — with solid deliverability. Domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) is configured during the migration to maintain or improve your current deliverability rates.

everything else in one platform.
